Here's how to quickly measure your dog to ensure the perfect fit.

What You'll Need

A soft measuring tape (or a piece of string and a ruler)
A flat surface
A cooperative pup (treats help!)

1. Measure Back/Shoulder Height

This is the height from the floor to the top of your dog’s back or shoulders (also called the withers) while they’re standing.

This is the key measurement to determine whether your dog can stand comfortably inside the carrier.
The Air Pup Travel Carrier has an interior height of 11 inches.
We recommend your dog be 8 inches or shorter at the shoulder for a comfortable fit.

2. Measure Full Height (Optional)

This is the height from the floor to the top of your dog’s head or ears, whichever is taller.

This helps you visualize your dog’s overall size, but it’s not critical for determining fit—since dogs tend to lower their heads while inside the carrier.

3. Measure Body Length

Measure from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail (not the end of the tail).

The interior length of the carrier is 18 inches, so dogs up to that length should be able to lie down comfortably.
Keep in mind that a slightly snug fit is okay for short travel times.

4. Measure Shoulder Width

Measure across the shoulders at the widest point.

The carrier's interior width is 11 inches, so dogs with shoulders up to 5.5 inches wide can typically turn around inside with ease.

Yes. The Air Pup Travel Carrier is designed to meet in-cabin size requirements for most major U.S. airlines, including Delta, United, JetBlue, Alaska, Southwest, Frontier, American, and Spirit. It measures 18" L x 11" W x 11" H, which falls within standard soft-sided carrier guidelines.

On smaller regional aircraft, in-cabin pet policies can be more restrictive and the carrier may not be permitted. We always recommend confirming your specific airline's pet policy for every flight.

The flexible, soft-sided design allows it to compress slightly to fit under most standard economy seats. Breathable mesh panels on the sides and top provide ventilation and comfort throughout the trip.

How do I remove the wheels at the airport?

The rolling base attaches via three heavy-duty Velcro connection points on the underside of the carrier.

To remove it, simply tilt the carrier slightly and detach all three velcro points no tools needed, takes just a few seconds.

The Wheels can be removed from the rolling base or stay put depending on needs and preferences.

Most customers find it easiest to do while seated at the gate before boarding, especially those with less mobility.

Is the Air Pup Travel Carrier TSA-approved?

No need to worry about security, the TSA does not certify or approve pet carriers — compliance is determined by each individual airline.
