Dog Kennel Size Guide: What Size Kennel Does My Dog Need?

Choosing the right kennel size is important for your dog’s comfort, safety, and overall experience. A kennel should provide enough room for your dog to comfortably stand, turn around, and lie down without feeling overly cramped.

Use our dog kennel size guide below to help determine the best fit for your pup. We recommend measuring your dog before ordering rather than choosing a kennel based only on weight or breed.

How to Measure Your Dog for a Kennel

Start by measuring your dog’s height from the shoulder to the ground. You should also consider your dog’s overall body length, weight, and build when selecting a kennel.

If your dog falls between two sizes or you're unsure which kennel to choose, we recommend sizing up to provide additional space.

Small Dog Kennel

Dimensions: 24" L × 16.7" W × 19.3" H
Recommended Dog Size: 20 inches and under, up to 15 lbs

Our Small kennel is designed for smaller dogs and toy breeds that need a compact, comfortable space.

Medium Dog Kennel

Dimensions: 30" L × 17.7" W × 20.5" H
Recommended Dog Size: 24 inches and under, up to 25 lbs

The Medium provides additional room for small to medium-sized dogs while remaining easy to incorporate into your home.

Large Dog Kennel

Dimensions: 36" L × 22.5" W × 25.2" H
Recommended Dog Size: 28 inches and under, up to 45 lbs

Our Large kennel offers additional interior space for medium-sized dogs that need more room to comfortably relax.

XL Dog Kennel

Dimensions: 42.2" L × 27.2" W × 29.8" H
Recommended Dog Size: 32 inches and under, up to 70 lbs

The XL is a great option for larger dogs or pups that need more space to stretch out and get comfortable.

XXL Dog Kennel

Dimensions: 48" L × 29.2" W × 32.3" H
Recommended Dog Size: 36 inches and under, 90+ lbs

Our largest kennel provides plenty of space for large breeds and bigger dogs that require additional height and room.

Choosing the Right Dog Kennel Size

Remember that weight is only one factor when determining what size kennel your dog needs. Two dogs that weigh the same can have completely different heights, lengths, and body shapes.

Always measure your individual dog and compare those measurements with the kennel dimensions before ordering.

When in doubt, sizing up can provide your dog with additional room and comfort. With the right kennel size, your pup can have a secure, comfortable space for resting, relaxing, and feeling at home.
